Membership

CMCAA is a member-supported, all-volunteer organization.

Membership dues build our financial cushion that allows us to book concerts with guaranteed fees, knowing that if we face unforseen circumstances, we'll be able to honor our commitments. This is essential to being able to present concerts and bring guest artists-in-residence to teach.

CMCAA was formed in 2001.  Between June 2001 and August 2007, here are some of the things we've accomplished:

• Presented 34 concerts with international and national touring artists. (List of past events)
• Hosted artists-in-residence for seven consecutive summers to teach Irish music, dance and language to adults and children. (2001 - 2006 guest teachers were all from Ireland, requiring international work visas and travel expenses)
• Held monthly ceili dances since 2004, with live music and a dance caller/teacher.
• Purchased a number of instruments (accordions and fiddles) for beginners to use while they decide if they will buy their own instruments.
• Actively engaged in outreach activities such as bringing visiting musicians into schools for assemblies, demonstrations and world culture days.
• Performed music and dance regularly for community events such as Twilight Festival, Art in the Park,  Earth Day and the annual Columbia Volunteers Reception.
• Published a regular (at least monthly) e-newsletter of Celtic events in our region.  archive
• Contributed to the vibrant cultural diversity of our mid-Missouri community.

Why become a member?

If the reasons and accomplishments above are not enough, here is a succinct answer:

1. This organization wouldn't exist without members.
2. We need membership dues to keep doing what we do.

Yearly Membership Dues: (effective 1/7/2008)

Individual: $15
Family: $25
Student or Senior: $10
Business member: $30

Every February we ask members to  renew their membership and pay dues, regardless of when they first paid.  This greatly simplifies our bookkeeping and means we can send one request out per year rather than keeping track of every person's anniversary date.  If you initially become a member at some other time of the year, it's up to you whether you renew the following February, or wait a year.
